It depicts Padmasambhava (also known as Guru Rinpoche) - the beloved deity who brought Buddhism to Tibet. This detailed traditional Tibetan style painting took over three months to complete. It is made from mineral colors (lapis lazuli, malachite, etc) ground into powder and made into paint, water based paint, inks and real gold. Each part of this painting has a symbolic meaning.
Holly enjoys exploring a variety of painting media, including oils, acrylics, pen and ink, pastels and watercolor. She has encouraged and taught hundreds of students in styles spanning realism to Impressionism to abstract art. Her wide range of work includes ancient sacred traditions, realistic local landmarks, whimsical fairy tales, and detailed pen and ink with hidden imagery. Her recent 15 month stay in India, where she studied Thangka painting (sacred Tibetan scroll painting) brought together her love of Buddhism, Tibetan culture, and expression in the arts.
